Climate Action in the Field: From cloud forests to coastline, participants engage in hands-on conservation—reforesting land, reducing waste, and learning practical solutions to environmental challenges.

Sustainable Rural Development: In Playa Blanca and Providencia de Dota, students collaborate with local communities on cultural, agricultural, and environmental projects that promote sustainability and resilience.
Marine Ecosystems & Coastal Protection: In partnership with Alianza Mar y Tierra, students restore coral reefs, assist in sea turtle conservation, and take part in beach clean-ups to protect Costa Rica’s rich marine life.
“Conservation is about building sustainable relationships between people and wildlife, recognising that we are not separate from nature, but a part of it.”

Tour Host
Wildlife Conservation Biologist
Tesa Mendoza is a passionate wildlife biologist with hands-on experience in conservation. She has worked on numerous projects aimed at preserving biodiversity and protecting endangered species, all while forging a deep connection with the ecosystems she strives to protect. Currently pursuing a master’s in conservation, she is the ideal guide to lead you through this immersive wildlife and cultural journey through Costa Rica.
Costa Rica’s Iconic National Parks
Towering volcanoes, emerald rainforests, and sun-drenched shores set the stage for close encounters with sloths, scarlet macaws, and tapirs in three of Costa Rica’s wildest national parks.
Manuel Antonio
A compact coastal gem where tropical rainforest meets pristine beaches, teeming with monkeys, sloths, and colourful birdlife.

Arenal Volcano
Home to Costa Rica’s most iconic volcano, this park offers dramatic lava fields, lush rainforest trails, and sweeping views of Lake Arenal.
A true biodiversity hotspot, Corcovado shelters 5% of the world’s species and is often called the most biologically intense place on Earth.
Corcovado

Hands-On Conservation: Learning in the Wild with Tapir Vet
Tapir Vet is a Costa Rica-based conservation organisation dedicated to promoting human-tapir coexistence through research, education, and community engagement. Founded by Dr. Jorge Rojas Jiménez, a wildlife veterinarian and PhD graduate from the University of Georgia's Integrative Conservation program, the organisation focuses on the endangered Baird’s tapir. Dr. Rojas's work includes GPS collaring, health assessments, and community-based conservation efforts in the Tenorio-Miravalles Biological Corridor.
During the three-day visit, Red Kite Adventures participants will engage in field research activities such as GPS collaring and camera trapping to monitor tapir movements. They may study disease ecology to understand interactions between tapirs and domestic animals, collaborate with local farmers on conflict mitigation strategies like electric fencing, and participate in environmental education programs, including the Tapir-Art initiative, to promote conservation awareness in local schools.

Alianza Mar Y Tierra Project
Take part in coral reef restoration in the water, coastal clean-ups, and explore sustainable beekeeping practices on land. All in partnership with Alianza Mar y Tierra.

Playa Blanca Community Project
Authentic community engagement through traditional crafts, cooking, and sustainable living initiatives that support environmental and social resilience.
Join scientists from a local environmental association on a mission to protect the marine turtles through research, habitat protection, and community education.
